What is the Pomodoro Timer?
A Pomodoro timer is a time management technique that helps improve focus and productivity. It is named after the Italian word for "tomato" because the technique was developed by Francesco Cirillo, who used a tomato-shaped kitchen timer.
The Pomodoro technique involves breaking work or study sessions into intervals, typically 25 minutes in length, called "Pomodoros." After each Pomodoro, a short break of around 5 minutes is taken. After completing a set number of pomodoros, usually four, a longer break of 15–30 minutes is taken.
The idea behind the Pomodoro technique is that working in short, focused bursts with frequent breaks can enhance concentration, prevent burnout, and increase productivity. The timer serves as a reminder to stay on task during the designated Pomodoro interval and helps structure the workday into manageable segments. There are various digital Pomodoro timer apps and websites available that can be used to track and manage Pomodoro sessions effectively.
Key Functionalities
Timer Setting: The ability to set the duration of Pomodoro sessions, short breaks, and long breaks according to your preferences.
Countdown: The timer counts down the remaining time for each Pomodoro session, indicating how much time is left before the break or the end of the session.
Break Management: The timer automatically transitions from a Pomodoro session to a break once the session time is up, and it tracks the number of completed Pomodoros to trigger appropriate breaks.
Notifications: The timer provides notifications or alerts to signal the start and end of each Pomodoro session and break, ensuring that you stay on track and maintain focus.
Task Organization: It includes a feature to help you organize and manage your tasks. You can create to-do lists, prioritize tasks, and allocate specific Pomodoro sessions to different tasks or projects.
My experience with it
I used this to study for my final two weeks ago, and I was immediately more focused than before. For someone who likes to look at his phone often, this tool allows me to only check my phone when break time is up. When it’s study time, my mind is completely focused on the task.
What I also love is the task organization feature, where I can see exactly how much time is left until the task is over. It also gives me a sense of security that I am able to complete x amount of tasks on time since it provides you with a calculated time for when you’ll be able to complete all your tasks based on your settings.

That’s all for this week! It’s a short newsletter, I know, but I thought this could come in handy for anyone who may be struggling with productivity. Please let me know what you think about newsletters like these. I’m experimenting to provide you with the best content I can!
I’m going to have to make some small adjustments to find the perfect work-life balance. I have so many projects in mind, but limited time in the day.

So I just found out about the Twitter vs Substack war, which results in the impossibility to embed Tweets… Sigh. Looks like I’ll have to do the manual way (Screenshots)
