Well, we are 24 days into the new year now.
How’s the progress in the pursuit of your new year resolution?
The truth is, it's hard to succeed without a proper system in place.
Here are my personal tips to stay accountable to your goals
Overview
A proper system will help you stay on task as if you are your own manager.
In this newsletter, I'll cover:
Schedules
Tasks Lists
Accountability partner
Important note
Schedules
Use Google Calendar
Start with the immovable tasks ( e.g. Work) then place the other tasks around them.
Set it to repeat weekly.
Schedule everything such as travel time, meal, wakeup, sleep, break, gym, etc.
Be realistic about how much time each should take.
I also like to include a time to modify the schedule each week in case it's needed.
Tasks List
Use Google Tasks
Write at least 4-5 tasks of the day every morning
Sort the tasks from the most important to the least
Prioritize these tasks every day over any last-minute errands.
Execute these tasks in the appropriate time slot you made with your schedule.
Stay focused on the tasks until the time is up.
I highly suggest putting the difficult tasks first so you don't have to do them later when you're tired.
Accountability Partner
This is an optional step, but if you're slacking on the tasks, then this is for you.
Get a trusted friend to share your tasks with and check in with them every day.
The shame of not completing your tasks should serve as motivation for the next day.
Important Note
Know that these are just pointing you on the right path. What's left is for you to execute and respect the allocated time slots.
Act as your own manager.
Put all distractions away.
Be honest with yourself whether you're actually respecting these tasks or not.
To Recap
You need to build a schedule and task lists to organize your weekly and daily goals.
Scheduling tasks ahead of time helps you ensure you get the important things done first.
Be proactive and drop your excuses!
That’s all for now!
